Living Geometry 2026 was curated and developed by the Experience Design Lab (XD Lab) in the KAIST Department of Industrial Design and presented at YDP Artsquare from May 1 to June 28, 2026. It featured seven works by Yiyun Kang, Jeanyoon Choi, Intae Hwang, and Minhyeok Seo across single-channel video, interactive installation, sensor-driven data works, and multi-device web art. Admission was free and no reservation was required.

Experience design and interaction design connect the exhibition's works through audience participation: opening doors, creating weather, connecting a heartbeat to city data, and using phones to change gallery screens together.

Yeongdeungpo is a city of living dynamics. From the metalworking alleys and artist communities of Mullae-dong to the high-rise towers of Yeouido, and from former factory sites transformed into commercial spaces, different eras, functions, and systems overlap here to form an exceptional urban environment.

Presented at Yeongdeungpo Art Square, Living Geometry takes this complex urban landscape as its point of departure. The exhibition understands the city as an Anthroposphere — a vast trace of human activity — and reimagines it beyond a static concrete jungle. Here, the city becomes Living Geometry: a living, pulsating organism in which humans, non-humans, and technologies are continuously entangled.

Curated and produced by KAIST Experience Design Lab (XD Lab), the exhibition explores the visible landscapes of the city, its invisible data, and the emotional layers that lie beneath them. Through storytelling that connects physical space with digital media, alongside data visualization and immersive technologies, visitors are invited to reconsider their relationship with the city. In doing so, Living Geometry presents a new dimension of media art where engineering and art converge.
