테크노스피어 — Technosphere

테크노스피어(Technosphere)는 인류가 구축한 인공적 물리 시스템의 총체이자, 생물권(Biosphere)을 넘어 지구의 새로운 지질학적 층위로 자리 잡은 '제6의 권역'을 의미한다. 영상 작업 〈Technosphere〉는 이제는 하나의 거대한 생태계처럼 자생하는 이 인공적 권역을 시각적으로 형상화한다. 알고리즘을 통해 파편화된 도시 구조물들이 스스로 증식하고 질서를 찾아가는 과정은, 설계자의 의도를 넘어 독자적으로 확장되는 현대 문명의 이면을 시각적 지질층으로 보여준다.

이 유기적인 흐름 끝에 서서히 모습을 드러내 상상하여, 화려한 전광판을 등지고 골목으로 들어가는 흐름 속에서 관객은 문을 여는 행위를 통해 일상적인 도시 공간 속에서 사적이고 몰입적인 경험을 마주하게 된다.

이 작품은 KAIST 경험디자인연구실(XD Lab)이 기획·개발한 미디어아트 특별전 〈Living Geometry 2026 · 생동 기하학〉에 출품되었다. 전시는 2026년 5월 1일부터 6월 28일까지 서울 영등포아트스퀘어(타임스퀘어 B2F)에서 열리며, 관람료는 무료다.

Technosphere — 테크노스피어

Technosphere names the totality of artificial physical systems built by humanity — the 'sixth sphere' that, beyond the Biosphere, has settled into the Earth as a new geological stratum. The video work 〈Technosphere〉 gives visual form to this artificial domain, now self-sustaining like a vast ecosystem. Fragmented urban structures, processed through algorithms, multiply and find their own order; what surfaces, as a visual geological layer, is the underside of a contemporary civilisation that expands beyond its designers' intent.

At the end of this organic flow the work gradually surfaces, almost imagined into being. Turning their backs on the brilliant screens and stepping into the alley, visitors — through the simple act of opening a door — enter a private, immersive encounter inside the ordinary city.
