〈Post-Vanishing〉 follows on from 〈Vanishing 2.0〉, treating the city as a living creature in which nature, the human, and technology are interlaced and ceaselessly reshaped. Taking the creature that emerges in the final scene of 〈Vanishing 2.0〉 as its point of departure, the work offers this creature as a vessel for the city itself.
Three creatures appear as imagined extremes: the forms a city might be carried into by sheer inertia, long after the absence of humankind. Each stands for a different aspect of the urban — its matter, its connectivity, and its surface — each bearing unique characteristics of its own.
Composed across three media-wall surfaces, the installation conjures an alien yet familiar planet. Between the screens, visitors drift through the city of a far future, an organism that has slipped out of human control.
