날씨는 누구나 자연스럽게 꺼내는 이야기다. 오늘 덥다, 비가 올 것 같다, 요즘 날씨가 이상하다. 우리는 날씨를 통해 세계를 감각하고, 타인과 연결된다. 그러나 기후 변화 앞에서는 말문이 막힌다. 데이터는 넘쳐나지만, 숫자와 그래프는 우리의 일상적인 감각과 좀처럼 이어지지 않는다. 날씨 이야기하듯, 기후 데이터를 우리 곁에 둘 수는 없을까.
〈Goldilocks〉는 기후 변화에 대해 표현하고, 경청하고, 염원하는 전 과정을 데이터로 매개한다. 관객은 기온, 습도, 풍속, 운량, 가시거리, 강우, 강설의 일곱 가지 기상 요소를 직접 조절하며 자신만의 날씨를 만든다. 이어 작품을 찾은 다른 이들의 날씨를 탐색하고 경험하며, 각자의 이야기는 작품 안에 켜켜이 쌓인다.
수집된 날씨들은 서울의 실시간 기상 데이터를 기준으로 정렬된다. 현재 날씨와 유사할수록 가까이 위치하며, 그 분포 속에서 집단적 기후 골디락스 존이 드러난다. 사람들이 적당하다고 여기는 날씨와 실제 기후 사이의 괴리다. 이 유동하는 공백은 작품이 설치된 시공간에 고유하게 존재하며, 보이지 않던 모순을 측정하는 장치로 작동한다.
지구의 기후가 극단적으로 변화할수록, 이상과 현실의 간극은 더욱 벌어진다. 그러나 동시에, 거대한 위기를 마주한 수많은 작은 목소리들이 이 작품 안에 모인다. 〈Goldilocks〉는 그 목소리들이 함께 품는 희망의 가능성을 가시화한다.
* 골디락스 존: 골디락스 존(Goldilocks Zone) 혹은 생명체 거주 가능 영역(Habitable Zone, HZ)은 생명체가 살아가기에 적합한 환경을 지니는 우주 공간의 영역이다. 너무 차갑지도 뜨겁지도 않은 적당한 온도라는 의미로 19세기 영국의 동화 『골디락스와 곰 세 마리』(Goldilocks and the Three Bears)에서 이름이 유래했다.

Weather is part of everyday conversation. We talk about heat, rain, wind, and strange seasonal changes almost without thinking. It is a familiar way of sensing the world and connecting with others. Climate change, however, feels distant, overwhelming, and difficult to relate to personal experience, while the data that describes it often remains abstract.
〈Goldilocks〉 asks whether climate data can be brought closer to everyday life. Visitors create their own weather by adjusting seven meteorological elements: temperature, humidity, wind speed, cloud cover, visibility, rainfall, and snowfall. They then encounter the weather created by others, allowing individual feelings, memories, and desires to gather within the work as data.
These collected weathers are arranged in relation to Seoul's real-time meteorological data. As they accumulate, they reveal a collective climatic Goldilocks zone: a shared sense of weather that feels desirable, livable, or “just right.” By making visible the distance between this imagined climate and the climate we actually inhabit, 〈Goldilocks〉 gathers small voices facing the same planetary crisis and suggests the possibility of hope, care, and collective imagination.
