Family Guide — Free Kids-Friendly Media-Art Exhibition at Yeongdeungpo Times Square (Living Geometry 2026)
On the B2 level of Times Square Mall in Yeongdeungpo, Living Geometry 2026 is a free media-art special exhibition curated and developed by KAIST's Experience Design Lab (XD Lab). Several works are interactive — kids run them on their own phones, place their hand on a pulse sensor, or compose their own weather — so the show plays well as a family outing inside a single mall building.
Why it works for a family visit
Admission is free with no reservation. Hours are daily 10:00 – 18:00 (last entry 17:45). The venue is a three-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo Station (Line 1 / KTX), on the B2 level of Times Square Mall — wheelchair- and stroller-accessible, with an underground link from the station so weather is never a factor. Suggested visit length is 60–90 minutes, short enough to fit before kids run out of patience.
The works are designed to make abstract data and the idea of 'the city' graspable through the hands. Intae Hwang's Goldilocks lets a child adjust seven weather parameters and compare the result with Seoul's live data; his Vessel reads your pulse and brings it into resonance with the city. Minhyeok Seo's City'scape + Tied lets you open a small physical door to look through onto a transformed cityscape.
The single-channel video works — Vanishing 2.0, Technosphere, and Post-Vanishing — open natural conversations with children about extinction, climate, and how cities change over time.
Recommended kid-friendly course
1) Yeongdeungpo Station Exit 4 → Times Square underground link (3 min, no outdoor walk).
2) B2 level — YDP Artsquare. Enter via Gate 14, next to the Dokdo Experience Center → Living Geometry 2026, 60–90 min.
3) Spend time at the interactive pieces (Goldilocks, Vessel, City'scape + Tied) — let kids run the controls themselves.
4) Break at the Times Square food court or 1F café, then continue to the 2F bookstore or the Electromart.
Best works to share with children
Pick from the interactive and sensory works depending on your child's age and interests.

About the exhibition
Living Geometry 2026 is a media-art special exhibition curated and developed by the KAIST Experience Design Lab (XD Lab) within KAIST's Department of Industrial Design. It re-threads Yeongdeungpo's visible urban landscape, its invisible data, and the emotional strata behind them in a geometric language — recasting the city, beyond a stilled aggregate of concrete, as an organism in continual pulse. Seven works span single-channel video, interactive installation, and multi-device web art.
